Islamabad: Hours after former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan was injured in a gun attack near Wazirabad on Thursday, protests erupted across the country. Pakistan Tereek-e-Insaaf party workers took to the streets to protest against the incident.

Hundreds of people also protested in front of the Corps Commander's House in Peshawar. In one of the videos that surfaced online, security personnel could be seen stopping PTI workers from coming close to the Corps Commander's residence.

PTI shared several videos of protests on its official Twitter handle. In these videos, people could be seen setting ablaze vehicles and raising slogans in support of Imran Khan. Protesters also raised slogans against Nawaz Sharif.

Videos of protest across Pakistan:

Notably, Khan sustained bullet injuries in his leg after a gunman opened fire during his rally in Wazirabad. The assailant reportedly fired at the container in which the PTI chairman was travelling. The former Pakistan PM was then shifted to Lahore for treatment.

The shooter was arrested. He reportedly used AK-47 for carrying out the attack. The assailant told police that he attacked Khan as he was misleading the public. At the time of the incident, the PTI chairman was leading a protest march to Islamabad. He was demanding to snap elections. The incident took place almost 200 km from Pakistan's capital city.

Khan blamed Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah and Maj Gen Faisal for the attack. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army condemned the attack on Imran Khan. The Pakistan PM directed Interior Minister to submit an immediate report on the incident.[/c][/quote]
