Would this be a good time to expand NATO?

This would seem to be a good time to invite Israel, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar ... all or some to become members of NATO.

Much like NATO has helped Eastern Europe escape the clutches of the old Soviet Union, could it also help the Middle east escape the clutches of Islamic terrorist nations,

Well, NATO was originally set up to counter the expansion of Russia back in the late 40's.
But that particular episode of the time has been consigned to history following the collapse of the number of Communist countries.

Although many of the American 'boomer generation', even today, still want their 'war with the Communists. Hence all the political sabre rattling from the more...vocal right-wing elements in the U.S. today.

China might be said to have replaced Russia as the 'perceived threat' today.
But that's based more on the idea that China is an economic threat due to it's potential manufacturing and transport capability and the fact that the Chinese Yuan is being touted as a reliable alternative to the U.S Dollar as a replacement for the global currency.
