To be president?

@ElRengo it was more affordable, but you still had to have millions to run.

Surely.
But seems that it´s now a main aspect of the personal curriculum and not only logistics

@ElRengo the MIC bought the government before WWII.

Sorry if my knowledge of USA political history is not the one that USA citizens (should) have.
I´m not one of them nor living there.
Even so in a wider frame it´s true that economic power is certainly in the core of government worldwide.
Anyhow I´m pointing to the kind of profile that some political wave promotes as an almost needed "cultural" merit for political leaders.
That is to be part of the exclusive club of the top oligarchs / bussines cream.

@ElRengo slave owning foreigners founded the USA and removed the natives. The oligarchs always were the only USA. The population is literally cast offs from Europe - people they sent to die in America instead of the usual way,- killing them. and people were enslaved, and brought to America.

True not only in USA, you are right.
But during some historical period the belonging to the "club" was not necessarily a political public virtue.
It seems that to bragg about is promoted as part of a certain cultural war.

@ElRengo sure, the "progressive" politics of socialism and communism and the New Deal followed the outrage at the oligarchs of the guilded age and the Roaring Twenties. Americans fully consciously reject progressive politics and embrace war and austerity. End game. End history. They win or they kill us all!

Don´t seem that we are talking about the same.

@ElRengo there's only one history, certainly I'm excluded. It's a future for moderate and conservatives, just like there's no place for socialism or peace in your future - no way I can talk.
