@jshm2 LoL. In one city I lived in we had free broadband everywhere. No cell bills! 22 dollar phones. Smart phones. You want that or just your bill the way Americans pay, idiot?

Secondly a $22 phone is heavily subsidized by the telco whose network you are using
Thirdly the broadband you were using was also heavily subsidized by the network provider and probably a phone maker.
