I Love History

Folklore, Local History, Over the years, I got into WW2, Vietnam, JFK, I read a real good book about what life was like for early settlers. History and good book can take you to places you never imagined beyond TV

Totally agree.. i love thinking about how it *was* for people.. like in the war.. how did it feel, what did they think..
I went to a stately home today.. i loved the paintings and statues but what i really wanted to know and think about was the people.. how was it to be them.. how was it to be the servants.. their lives, their loves.. their heartbreaks..
I even asked a question that made the lady there look at me as if i were mad.. there were all these carvings on the wall... i said.. i bet it must have been hard work to dust them all.. she said yes they have to use a small paintbrush... i thought about that.. the experiences of someone doing that..in the past... now...
