1403 Battle of Shrewsbury: Army led by the Lancastrian King of England, Henry IV defeats a rebel army led by Henry "Harry Hotspur" Percy of Northumberland thus ending the Percy challenge to the throne. Also the first battle English archers fought each other on English soil.
1545 The first landing of French troops onto the coast of the Isle of Wight during the French invasion.

The Elan Valley Reservoirs were officially opened on 21st July 1904.
The Elan Valley Reservoirs are a chain of five man-made lakes created by the damming of the Elan and Claerwen rivers within the Elan Valley in Mid Wales. The five lakes are known as the Caban Coch, Garreg Ddu, Craig Goch, Pen y Garreg and Claerwen.
They were built because of the lack of clean water in the rapidly growing city of Birmingham, which had expanded during the late 19th century. Outbreaks of water-borne diseases resulted in the Birmingham Corporation Water Act of 1892, which allowed the acquisition of land by compulsory purchase for the purpose of creating an adequate water supply.
