Gruffydd ap Llywelyn (c. 1007–1063 or 1064) was the son of Llywelyn ap Seisyll, King of Gwynedd and Deheubarth, who claimed descendency from Hywel Dda . He is known as "the only Welsh king ever to rule over the entire territory of Wales”.

On this day in 1937, a Humpty Dumpty grocery store in Oklahoma introduced the first shopping carts. Alas, customers were initially doubtful. Women already pushed carts around (albeit ones with babies in them) and were tired of doing so, and male shoppers thought the cart made them look effeminate. However, the new invention became hugely popular, revolutionizing grocery shopping.

1967British Midland flight G-ALHG crashed in Hopes Carr, Stockport, killing 72 of the 84 passengers and crew on board and left 12 people with serious injuries. Although the plane came down in the centre of a busy industrial town, miraculously, nobody outside the plane was injured. An air accident investigation found the cause of the crash to be fuel starvation due to a fault in the fuel lines and the poor warning system on the Canadair C-4 Argonaut propeller aircraft.
