Pont Abermaw (The Barmouth Bridge) was opened on 3rd June 1867. It linked Barmouth to the rail network for the first time. The Barmouth Bridge is a single-track largely wooden railway viaduct that crosses the estuary of the Mawddach River. It was built entirely of wood, by the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railway and included a lifting drawbridge to permit the passage of tall ships, which was rebuilt in 1901 as a steel swing bridge.

Off course the staid BBC,who banned songs on a whim( there’s a group dedicated to that on here) were more than happy to play a tune about a guy being seduced by a transvestite as long as the Coca Cola reference was removed 😅
