It's strange you should say that. All of what I know was through reading literature, both non-fiction and fiction. In fact, that's how traditional education works.
I've ignored Hollywood because it has little effect on me since I was about 16. I have to admit that the Monty Python team were unexpectedly informative.

It took me a while, but I worked out that 'incident' should read 'innocent'.
I don't know, but I doubt it. I agree it was very sadistic and no doubt some enjoyed their work, or at least became inured to human suffering.

@FreddieUK What was the suffering? And why do you say sadistic? They just wanted to get what they want. That is why if you said yes to them, they will let you live. If you say no, you will get strangled if you are lucky. If you keep saying no, that is when you get burned alive.
