The people in power are heinous and dont care about any of us minions

I once didn’t care so much about reparations—until I came to understand that the plan was on the table in the closing days of the Civil War.

Special Field Orders, No. 15 was a wartime order proposed by General William Tecumseh Sherman on January 16, 1865, to allot some land to freed slave families (where the term "40 Acres & A Mule" comes from). It was to be a part of Reconstruction, bringing previously enslaved people into the mainstream.

Unfortunately, after President Lincoln’s assassination, his VP, Andrew Johnson, was a Southern sympathizer who restricted and reversed much of the legislation as "too harsh" on the former Confederacy. During his administration the funds reportedly earmarked for the former enslaved were redirected to former slavemasters as compensation for their lost property.

After learning that, I believe reparations are definitely owed for 300 years of free labor. Even if it came in the form of tax breaks or educational opportunities, something. Affirmative Action doesn’t count—that was shared with both white women (who benefited the most) and the descendants of people of color whose families chose to emigrate here.

@bijouxbroussard

Even if they had given it it wouldn't have done any good people like the klu Klux Klan founded in 1865 would have made sure Blacks didn't prosper, as we know they accomplished much of it.
But how are you ever going to heal from it and move forward?

@MsSwan the US is divided on when it comes to equality which side outweighs the other is only by slight numbers.

It's been over a hundred years since Abraham freed the slaves - 60 years since the civil Right amendment - that's a few generations. Racism is abundant in the US even in the government and nowadays is pretty revealing.

And they are still fighting civil Right laws trying to find a way around them or to change them or to eliminate them in indirect manners.

When people teach their children hatred towards others - even when children see their parents display hatred towards another that is a generational thing.

And what the government is doing nowadays openly is not trying to provide equality for everyone but to re-establish the past.
