do you have any opinions about the windrush generation

i realize this is dating way back now, to the 1940s was it? when boatloads of west indian migrants moved here from the Caribbean to settle permanently?...i have seen quite few controversial views about the windrush.....some thought it was a good thing for britain, others, not so, thought it was the start of the significant migration problem to this country; mass migration.

it was way before my time, but know what it was about..and surveying the country now and all the problems in the country, i'm not sure the windrush idea was a good one.........what do you think? if you think anything at all that is..

It was after WW2. Britain was broken, bankrupt, huge areas bombed to rubble. The government called out to other Commonwealth countries because we needed help to rebuild the country and the Windrush Generation answered the call and offered to sail here and work as cheap labour. We owe them so much, but instead they were abused and treated terribly by a racist country. These people came to help and we rewarded them with bigotry and racism. The Windrush Generation deserve all our gratitude. They helped the country to get back on its feet. I'm a white Englishman. You need to understand history.

@durinsBane1983 I know you didn't. I wasn't criticising you, it's good that you asked the question, but you clearly misunderstood the positive impact of Windrush. That's why I said you needed to understand history. Best wishes
