Was President George Washington a slave owner

Yes, he was a slave-owner. Never heard a thing ab out the whipping story, though -- sounds about as real as the cherry tree story..

@bijouxbroussard I guess maybe, but when I think about it shipping/flogging was used as punishment in lots of situations and not just on slaves back then. Washington was a life-long military officer and flogging was pretty standard in the military in those days, I believe.

@bijouxbroussard No, just normal for the times, and not just limited to slaves. Everything in history has context, whether we agree with the world then or not.
