The tsunami was precipitated by a 9.1 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake was the third strongest earthquake ever measured using the Richter scale in recorded history.

The other two were the Valdivia earthquake in Chile in 1960, with a magnitude of 9.5 and the Prince William Sound earthquake in Alaska in 1964, with a magnitude of 9.2. The Indian Ocean earthquake killed about 200,000 people and is considered one of the deadliest natural disasters in recent history.

Re:Magical Mystery Tour. I remember clearly the kind of jealousy I had at 16 for those with a colour set (we didn't even have BBC2!) and the discussion/furore around the flim, but I can't remember that we even watched it. Seeing that extract makes me think that my parents wouldn't have made it past the first few minutes. I still haven't seen it, but based on that short extract, it seems to very much in the vein of US cartoons with a distinctive voice acting style. By the time this was released, The Beatles were, for many, moving past their 'family friendly' phase and this was a bit of a shock.
@FreddieUK Even if we’d had BBC2 at the time we only had a Black and White TV.
I would have been 10 and I know I saw it at the time.
Saw it in Colour many years later.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales, [@FreddieUK ], I think you guys are getting confused about the Blue Meanies - I didn't remember them in "Magical Mystery Tour" (which I saw in b&w when it was first shown) and I can't find any reference online to an appearance there: everything is directed to "Yellow Submarine" which I saw at the cinema when it went on General Release.

@ArtieKat I'd have to take your guidance on that, having seen neither.
@ArtieKat yeah…wrong film…you are right.
