History does repeat itself

Why built a Golden Fleet? Well, there's a rumour going about now that the current president is actually thinking of doing a Commodore Matthew Perry on the inhabitants of Greenland. Just like Tokugawa Shogunate was compelled to sign the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854, Greenlanders will be eased into the idea that it's better to be inside the free of tariffs zone than out. Somehow I think that they'll not be impressed even by Trump class battleships

The military industrial complex hasn’t had a successful (within budget, on time and functioning as planned) new surface ship program in 34 years. May be this will work.

@Thatsright Good point, but building a new battleship is for something much more dramatic than usual
