The strangest incident occurred on August 17th, 1957 in Philadelphia during a game against the New York Giants.
Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn hit a foul ball that struck Alice Roth in the face, breaking her nose, according to Daven Hiskey. The game was paused as medics came in to tend to Roth. While she was being carried away on a stretcher, play resumed, and Ashburn fouled off the first pitch thrown to him. This foul ball subsequently struck Roth again as she was being carried off by the medics, resulting in a broken bone in her knee.
