I didn't know this was the UN Charter. Serious question: Has this ever worked?
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@DavyPNW sure, it's new, but there's been some success.
The USA began to undermine the UN charter as soon as it was signed.
But it's not like we've had a peaceful era in which to apply the new understanding.

@DavyPNW that's the Western view, by no means universal in today's population. But impossible to shake among the brutal billion - the West.
DavyPNW · 56-60, M
@Roundandroundwego where is it less so?
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@DavyPNW everywhere else. Chinese people don't talk about weapons and hurting others every time they think about security. Only in the West. But even in the West in the seventies there were moves towards disarmament and towards establishing a peaceful Europe including Russia. There were neutral nations with no defense spending who were against war. Nothing like that since 2014 or so, even since 1995, the USA insists on aggression everywhere.
After WWII this UN charter was taken seriously. But you certainly don't allow that in today's mainstream. It's far to the left, extreme politics to admit we once understood the UN charter. War is easy, peace is obscure. War is ordinary and war is going to arrive and stay. Not knowing what the UN charter is will help. It's how you war.

@Roundandroundwego my understanding of world politics is different. China v Tibet, Iraq v Iran, Israel v Egypt (and others), India v Pakistan, are just a few of the historic and ongoing conflicts.

@DavyPNW you can have war by erasing history in the West. Others think differently. You alone need enemies.
DavyPNW · 56-60, M
@Roundandroundwego i need enemies?
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@DavyPNW the EU and the USA currently admit they will revitalize through war against Russia. They're building a war economy to develop themselves, admitting it all the way, for the second time since 1930. That's the West. It's everyone that doesn't come out against it at least - and wars demand that you have enemies. Otherwise peace can break out. Current USA, EU and NATO politics is against peace. Needs enemies. It's normal for people inside with the West to say not me! But war is normal! But not me!

@DavyPNW dispassionately accept genocide? That's not right, is it?
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@Roundandroundwego tell that to Iran and Hamas
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@Patriot96 it applies to them as well. And they're no excuse for Israel or the West to break the law.
DavyPNW · 56-60, M
@Roundandroundwego dispassionate is not acceptance. It seeks to understand cause of catostophic behavior with the goal of avoiding repeating history.
