Upstairs in the building where I once worked was an old-fashioned switchboard where telephone operators had once placed calls around the city. After 9/11, I encountered a woman who lived in the neighborhood. She told me that she’d been an operator there when Pearl Harbor was struck and the tension, especially with SF being a coastal city, felt very similar.

@jshm2 it's the anniversary of the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor back in 1941. One of precious few times since the civil war an attack actually occurred on American soil
