is there anything wrong with living in the past

[c=004A59][i]because i hate everything about living in today's times, i love to reminisce back to old times in the 80s when i was growing up and even watching old clips and tv shows that were out when my parents were young in the 50s and 60s......i am old fashioned and believe life was far better in decades gone by.[/i][/c]

There is nothing wrong with longing for the past. However, we tend to remember some things with a heavy dose of nostalgia, while forgetting the negative things. Life expectancy is much higher than it was 50 or 100 years ago, and medical treatments have advanced significantly. We didn't have personal computers 50 years ago, and there were only a couple of television stations, so if you missed a show, that was it.

I also yearn for simpler times, but then I look at my own circumstances, which included a severe infection that was almost fatal. If I had the same infection prior to 1950 and the ready availability of antibiotics, I would have died without seeing my 45th birthday.
