Without Cable tv (using only apps like Prime, Tubi and Roku)…

I’ve had a chance to get caught up on old tv shows, and even old movies. Right now I’m watching "Judgment at Nuremberg"(1961)
It’s fascinating, but I have to suspend certain personal perspectives. For example, the prosecution speaks of "injustices against human beings", which certainly cannot be disputed.
A couple of the defendants express the opinion that they don’t recognize the U.S.’s right to sit in judgment. Actually, very valid, given U.S. treatment of some of its own citizens.

At the time of the Nuremberg trials (1948) our country had Jim Crow laws very similar to the initial Nuremberg laws that began taking the rights of German Jews away. We’d sent segregated troops to fight in that very war. And our restrictive laws were still in place in 1961. The tenor of the movie is that of people who committed horrible crimes being held accountable and punished, with the (supposed) "good guys" prevailing. I’m at a point in my life where I have to get into a different headspace to appreciate such films the way I once did.

On EP I had a friend around my age who was born and had lived much of his life in India. We were discussing WWII and he said, "A lot of us just saw the Germans as another group of European oppressors on the same scale as the British who came to our country. They weren’t better, but they weren’t really worse, either." He discussed things done under British colonialism. I knew, but I hadn’t really known. Again, it was a different perspective. 😞

I plan to watch this movie again for its acting, cinematography and the storyline, while attempting to suspend my personal feelings about the historical content.

I have cable TV, but now spend most of my time using free streaming services, like YouTube on my TV.

When I am on my computer, though, I play games or chat on here. All for free, too.

My internet and TV are provided by the same company, so I view it holistically. I pay a lot, but in the end I am entertained. Yeah, TV is expensive and most programming is lame. Maybe I can find a way to cut back. I do not think I have the most limited option.

I prefer watching videos on my TV since I have comfy chairs and a large screen. Also, I sit in my computer chair all day to work, I need a break from that!
There are no good guys or bad guys. Only guys.
@Ozymandiaz That’s the bottom line, really.
