July 14: Bastille Day

Signaling the start of the French Revolution in 1789. One of the most-horrid events in human history. 40,000 people sent to the guillotine, with the public cheering on the carnage like it was some kind of basketball game. Anybody who tried to point out the madness probably was next in line for execution.

I mean, the policies had to happen but the punishments were just disgusting and excessive.
