As for that feed being the Default, there are actually 2 Defaults:
Using the Header Menu:
Social > History
takes you to the "Visited Posts" history feed, by default.
So that default link, is actually accessible from any page on this website.
When you are actively in the post feed,
the History link seen in the feed, defaults to the "Seen in Feed" version.
We figure that based on user's browsing and movement habits, the way those defaults are placed, may be more adequate for most.
As for feature release updates,
We have an endless amount of tasks for a team of 2 admins, developing and moderating everything on SW.
As soon as we released that new feature, we moved on to other urgent tasks that need attending to.
Also lot of these smaller features may be straightforward for many, and not requite a large announcement to draw in all user's attention.
Still, we are happy to address users questions and concerns, when we come across them, and once we have some spare time to do so.
