Eh, imo it's more like a general upward trend with peaks and valleys, at least over the past couple hundred years or so. I absolutely hate the conservative wave we seem to be experiencing at the moment, but it's telling that even absolute ghouls like Trump & DiSantis can't come right out and say that they hate trans people or think women belong in the kitchen, and even the idea of banning sodomy is still so ridiculous that basically no republican would even touch such a position today.

Cold comfort I know, but I think we'll recover and continue advancing, at least if democracy itself doesn't fall in the meantime.
