What's your knowledge of history really like? [I Love History]

This morning I spent correcting the views of a senior academic fellow on the Maginot Line and why the Germans actually did win the Battle for France. I couldn't believe my ears that the knowledge of historical facts is this low. I had to remind him that the non-retrievement of damaged French tanks and such were really important details. Is knowledge is a real decline right now?

I think true knowledge of history has always been hit and miss. If you don’t go doing some serious digging on your own for real straight facts (where such things are available), you’re at the mercy of bias from so many directions.
