Well, yes. My great-grandmother became a seamstress after she was freed. She’d been known for her skill at quilting and embroidery, which she used for embellishing the clothing she made.

@bijouxbroussard how awesome to know your history! I know very little about mine. I think history is undervalued. I only know my grandfather left Spain because of the Civil war. Why and or details— I don’t know. He found my grandmother in Cuba. That’s all I really know.
I hope you inherited some of her work!!!

@Mindful My middle sister has a quilted vest that she made. Pop gave it to her, and she has it on display in her home.
