In today's society it is more important than ever to look at the past to understand the present, to understand what is happening in our environment, to value the heritage that has been bequeathed to us, and to understand and respect others. A look back to the past from our present takes us to the future, always uncertain, but in which history can help us foresee the unknown.
This knowledge enables students to acquire skills that are relevant to their development as citizens and for their own intellectual satisfaction. Knowing and understanding the past of humanity as a whole is an invaluable asset for the individual and for society.
