Robert Watson-Watt [I Love History]

[image deleted]
This gentleman is Robert Watson-Watt. I doubt one person in a hundred have heard of him. He invented Radar- the amazing invention that probably turned the war and saved the world from Hitler's domination. That may seem an overstatement and possibly is, but RADAR certainly gave the RAF an edge when they needed all the help they could get. Watson Watt came from the small town of Brechin in Scotland.

A breakthrough invention that came at a critical point. Hats off to him as we recognize Remembrance Day.

@Quimliqer Very few will know Alexander Bain either, who invented the concept of the fax machine. He was a Caithness man, from the very north of mainland Scotland

@helensusanswift Thank you, I didn’t know that either.

@Quimliqer Writing is just a hobby. I work in a library, answering queries

@helensusanswift Ok. That’s a job that lends itself to your hobby. So, do folks not have Google?
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@Quimliqer They do, but they want more in depth information, often from primary and/or unpublished or hard-to-access non digitised source material.

@helensusanswift That’s a treasure trove of information.

@Quimliqer It surely is.
