You certainly get around! The only Scottish island I've been to is Skye, and that was a loooing time ago - before the bridge was built.

@Malcolm I am Scottish - it's my home so not hard to travel where I belong. I don't like Skye really!

@helensusanswift We have friends in Scotland but it's a while since we visited.

@Malcolm Hard to visit just now with this pandemic and the bad weather. Better year in 2021!

@helensusanswift I hope so. We'd been considering hiring a campervan and going round the coast, but that all went pear shaped

@Malcolm Everything's been pear shaped this year. It's been a scabbit year. If you're thinking of the 500 route - it's brilliant but very busy in high season.

@helensusanswift If you are considering visiting the islands, don't miss the Outer Hebrides. They are still very Scottish, while some, such as Skye and Mull, have so many incomers living there they don't feel Scottish any more. Lewis and Harris still have Scottish -and Hebridean - accents. In saying that, there are many holiday homes there, so some villages are dying- local folk can't afford to buy a house there as folk from the south outbid them, use the house as a holiday home or retirement home and the young people have to move away for homes and work. The highland clearances continue.

@helensusanswift Funnily enough, I looked at prices on Skye recently and was surprised how high they were and how much building land was up for sale.
helensusanswift · 31-35, F
@Malcolm yes- Outlander featured Skye and a lot of people decided they wanted to live there, and with the Covid-19 thing, thousands of people from England are wanting to move to the Highlands, so pushing the prices up and the locals out. It's a real tragedy.
