I Love History
Recently wrapped up a book on mostly would be presidential assassins.
Hunting the President: Threats, Plots and Assassination Attempts--From FDR to Obama Hardcover – April 14, 2014
by Mel Ayton (Author)
This focused on the role the secret service played from FDR to Obama. So many fascinating stories of these truly lost individuals. The author shows his own bias for political parties when talking about personal faults or failings of certain presidents while glossing over others. And its alarming how arbitrary it seems when someone is just issuing threats in a bar or online, which both happen all too often, who is arrested and convicted and who is told to just simply go home.
There was one story that I found particularly interesting about a would be assassin who stalked Truman for years because he blamed him for the death of his brother in the Korean war.
