I Love Civil War History

In light of the many issues/controversies about Confederate Monuments, this to me is refreshing to see the ruling that has taken place in Virginia. IMO you can't erase history by removing a statue or monument. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/virginia-judge-rules-charlottesville-confederate-statues-are-war-monuments/ar-AAAIz15?ocid=mailsignout

Well actually you made the point for removing them. We won’t forget history just because some statues are removed.

Statues memorializing the Confederacy in the US are the equivalent to the Germans putting up statues honoring Hitler, Goerring or the SS.
In light of what you said, do you see the National Park Service removing the many Confederate Monuments at Gettysburg? I wouldn't count on it. Those monuments are a part of this nation's history and past, albeit many choose to disregard that.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_monuments_of_the_Gettysburg_Battlefield#Confederate_monuments@luckranger71

Probably not. 🤷‍♂️Seems pointless to honor an entity that was fighting for a terrible cause and were traitors to the US @soar2newhighs

@soar2newhighs Battlefields are designated as federal monuments and have real historical significance. Far cry from municipal public art with questionable connotations.
Well you might want to have that discussion with the Judge who decided the monuments would not immediately come down.@QuixoticSoul

@soar2newhighs He’ll be overruled, or eventually the Supreme Court will change Virginia’s laws. Cities and their inhabitants aren’t going to be held hostage to this kind of nonsense.
If you say so. I'll wait and see.@QuixoticSoul
