I Love History

If you enjoy local history, you'll enjoy this post. I don't want to provide my location, but I'll say that I live in Alabama. I have a bit of an obsession with local history. I was shown a picture yesterday that I fell in love with. The location in the photo is the courthouse in my town. Currently, that area has a large fountain, and it's also the spot for annual art displays and Christmas decorations. In the photo, however, the front lawn of the courthouse is home to the gallow's pole. If you don't know what that is, here's a photo of one.

Gathered around the gallow's pole are horses and people from throughout the town. The photo was taken moments before a hanging. If I can get the photo on here, I'll be happy to show you. It's amazing how much the city has changed.
History is awesome. To know what has happened before your lifetime is a great way to step back into time before you have, it is an amazing experience. Because every thing has a story.

I live in a rural area in upsatate NY and where I used to travel, there was a throughway underneath (a highway now) but was a gateway that used to be a tunnel for Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad from NY to Canada.

Every place has a story, we just have to take time to acknowledge it and appreciate it for its authenticity on why or how it became history.

For everything there is a story.
