I Study Appalachia History
I'm a leftist activist and I voted for Bernie Sanders and ever since Hillary Clinton's loss I've been pressured by Fellow Leftist activist to try to empathize with the United Mine workers of america who switched Sides to vote for Trump because Democrats lost West Virginia and a few other Democratic Strongholds.
I live in Oregon and I'm studying Appalachian history now. Just got onto the Whiskey rebellion and I have to say it reminds me of Eastern Oregon.
Western Oregon is very Liberal and progressive compared to the East which sees us as a bunch of Communist hippies and Revolutionaries.
But the the History of how Eastern Oregon became so Antifederalist in nature and started to resent the Federal government of the united states is Interesting just because Modern Progressives and Government Activist like me don't support prohibition by a long shot and are Basically for ending the God Forsaken War on Drugs. I'm an activist against Prohibition in general and I've been completely out spoken on the issue. I don't think Big Brother should be policing what people put inside their bodies.
I'm not just against alcohol prohibition but prohibition of ALL drugs. I think for the harder drugs we should Decriminalize them and for the Softer ones like MDMA and Pot they should be legalized and regulated.
I supported the Silk Road and the Dark Net markets and did everything I could to call attention to them so people would use them more to take a stand against the Federal Government because I am an activist and I like the way the dark net markets are exposing how Futile this governments war on drugs is.

To say the least I might be in favor of the Welfare state and Government doing things to alleviate poverty but I am not a prohibitionist by a long shot and that's where Eastern Oregons Resentments towards the Federal government were born.
