I can definitely believe this to a degree, especially on social media. I think everyone is doing it, not just the US. Russia especially.

Twitter is maybe 50% bots splurging out utter nonsense. Half the time I honestly don’t know if I’m interacting with a bot or a human.

I think it’s ultimately a new kind of information warfare. Instead of fighting adversaries on a battlefield, let’s influence the general populous to create disorder and infighting.
