Why are conspiracy theorists called theorists?

The opposite of a conspiracy is a scheme for benevolence. To expect there to be plans for good is to be a benevolence theorist, right?
People who doubt conspiracy theorists or call them crazy often talk like they have high faith in leaders. Why?

Have you ever [c=003BB2]thought[/c] about that?

What do "benevolence theorists" require to accept that the powers or leaders they trust in do not have good will at heart for them? Especially here in the West?

Has the world really been looking like benevolence was the aim by the powers in control? Are things getting better? Is life getting easier with all the power, influence, and money being siphoned after pillaging foreign nations? Or has it truly been conspiracy after conspiracy? Life getting worse and worse for you? Do the people you viciously defend the image of not conspire against you?

And this is a serious question. I'm talking the laws passed, do they really serve you? Or do they find scheme after scheme to plot against you and either drive you that much more insane or force that much more money from you into their hands? 🤔

A question for a true thinker

"Conspiracy theories" should be called myths cause theories are grounded in reality.

Why especially in the west? Western democracies at least have some kind of separation of powers.
We are not happy with all the laws that are passed and are critical of the way things are going.
Conspiracy theorists cannot deal with the complexity of society and its problems and come up with elaborate black and white narratives that paint one side as the villain and one as the victim.
They want to simplify complex matters and blame for example one group of people for all the problems. While I don't deny that some truth is behind some of these ideas, powerful wealthy people do seem to have more rights and more power over us than they should, but nonetheless some of these myths are just harmful and insane.

@RebelliousSpirit in other words conspiracy theorists are idiots
@revenant Kinda yeah their problem is black and white thinking and overall expecting simple solution behind very complex matters.
Their starting point may be legit but most spiral down a path that has nothing to do with reality.

@RebelliousSpirit So YOU take the attitude of :
Those who govern us know better
Those who govern us are more intelligent and capable
We the simple people cannot possibly understand the complexities of this world
But those who govern us do
The world is too complicated for us simple people to understand
The powers that be always act on our best behalf
We should trust the powers that be

Is that it ?

@RebelliousSpirit we the simple people are too dimwitted to understand what is going on therefore we just have to TRUST the powers that be to act in our favour , decide our lives because they are far intelligent and capable
Those powers eventually want the benefit of mankind and good for humanity overall,
@revenant Hell nah those who govern us are complete idiots. The notion that they are evil and plotting against us etc is just stupid.
I advocate that people from the scientifc community should represent us in the given ministries. Like people who actually studied something and not been politicians most of their life.
I'm critical of people in power but reasonable, empirical and constructive criticsim rather than talking about some worldwide evil plans or whatever.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit you are at odds with what you are saying

How can you trust people you think are total idiots ?

Why should you trust the scientific community ?
@revenant Not at all but it's a problem that people think they can know everything. For example I will never have the same knowledge as an expert in the medical field and that is fine. Reasonable doubt where it is due but overall we have to trust other people.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit Is it better to :

Trust yourself and your instinct
or
Trust what other people tell you to be true
@revenant I don't trust the government but I do trust most of the scientific community. Studies are peer reviewed and you can read them and even verify how they came to their conclusions.
This distrust in academia is poison because who can replace certain knowledge. If you haven't studied medicine for a long time you can't be a doctor, same goes for other professions
@revenant Both is possible but there are situations your instinct won't be helpful.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit do you have to be in awe just because someone is a scientific

Do you think scientists always tell the truth
Do you think scientists never act on their own self best interests
Do you think scientists are better at the game of life than anybody else ?
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit give me an example please
@revenant No they don't but the community is so large and peer reviews are done exzessively therefore within lies a self regulating system.

No but do you actually believe you could create a diagnosis for symptoms you have? Or create plans for a building?...
You get my point?
A society without division of labour and trust is doomed to fail.
@revenant There is a new law for example and your instinct tells you it's bad and you personally dislike it but at the same time others feel it's helpful. In such instances we need evaluation studies to find out whether the effects of said law benefits more or less people.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit peer review is a meme now. Nobody had heard of * peer reviewed * a few years back.
Does it carry any weight. Does peer reviewed stuff always accept all alternatives or is there a general consensus. OK you get my drift...

so you are using the term trust...trust for the best ? are doctors always right ? hint : covid.

division of labour......don't we have it already ?

why is there lack of trust in your opinion ?
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit I trust my own instinct and listening to others is certainly valuable but they have to be convincing.
I cannot believe anyone on Trust alone.
if you are having your house redone you would consult more than one expert won't you ? the one and only might be a scammer and your house might fall down in 2 weeks time
@revenant Not always nobody is perfect but they were not entirely wrong about covid. At first they didn't know much about it either and had to study it and update us on new findings which in turn influenced the political response.

Yes we do but apparently you don't trust certain groups of people.

Because politicians don't always make the right decisions and people in dire situations look for people and things to blame rather than to understand their own situation and try to demand concrete measures.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit ok

You want to put your trust in people you do not really know at all
You want to put your trust in people you are not sure of what their intentions might be
You just assume..
You put your trust and your life in the hands of strangers. People you know nothing about.
@revenant Yes I would never advocate for blind trust.
Consulting more than one expert is about the same as reading multiple studies on the same issue or topic isn't it?

It's also wise to read multiple news article on the same topic cause all those things that don't change with the different papers are those that are most likely to be factually correct.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit trust. Faith

Would that be a new religion ?
@revenant If i would need fast surgery I don't have time to meet the doctor first right?
This paranoia of getting scammed is a problem and big part of our society unfortunately. I'm not saying trust everyone but don't entirely distrust anyone either.
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit But you are advocating for Blind Trust
You do not like various opinions and perspectives

Are scientists the New Gods ?
revenant · F
@RebelliousSpirit yeah but that is if you are sick. If you are healthy you do the job of researching.

Are we in a sick society ?
@revenant various perspectives of peers of the same knowledge. Why would I listen to a random person who thinks they know everything about say quantum physics.
