Taking a page from the Trump playbook, Netanyahu’s Likud party has said, without giving evidence, that Arab-led parties “stole” the elections in which Netanyahu’s bloc lost its majority of seats in parliament. By casting doubt on the vote, Netanyahu appears to be trying to block any potential alliance in the opposition with the Arab parties that could force him from office.

This is good news.

To be honest, it's looking increasingly as though people and institutions are getting sick and tired of this tired far-right shrieking when things don't go their way. It didn't work in Serbia, it didn't work in Brazil, it's not working in India, and it's not working in Israel either.

Increasingly, people are saying "STFU and get out" to people like Netanyahu. 2026 could, after all, be the year where democracy started to make a comeback.
