How different is Project2025 from Sharia law?

Restore the Office of the Deputy Director for the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division.
I thought your constitution forbade the federal government from making law respecting religion?
JSul3 · 70-79
@ninalanyon This administration doesn't believe in the Constitution.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ninalanyon "Restore" the Office...I don't know if that is a reaction to Musk's huge attack on the USA's Civil Service, or if it means something else.

The Project 2025 Tracker's own web-site says this:

Note: HHS reorganized its office for civil rights to focus on conscience and religious freedom
, completing this in June 2026.

(HSS: Department of Health & Human Services).

Tracker's references are:

www.theguardian.com
•
project2025.org, pg. 494

I followed the latter reference, to read the source first-hand. Firstly, entering "494" in the pdf index-bar lands you many pages short, but I scrolled to text page-number 494, not document page-count 494, of roughly 1000 pages total! I don't know if found the right place though, for I don't think it mentioned religious freedom.

This book is not an election-campaign manifesto but very deep, detailed instructions by the "Heritage Foundation" (which wrote this "Project 2025") to the President of the United States of America, on how it wants the nation run.

The citation revealed indigestible wodges of tightly detailed, uninspiring text looking as if written by lawyers for lawyers, comprehensible really only to American barristers. I wonder that is to deter any ordinary Joe (or Sam) Public from ploughing through it.

The section ends with this unwittingly revealing disclaimer:

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The preparation of this chapter was a collective enterprise of selfless individuals involved in the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. All contributors to this chapter are listed at the front of this volume and include former officials in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies, as well as academics, attorneys, and experts in the health care and insurance fields

That list of "selfless" contributors is long; a very extensive, motley crew. Some are clearly vested business, political, religious or single-issue campaign interests. Others have only arcane names to obscure their purposes.

I remember when people were concerned about all that. Have things really changed THAT much though? A few things yeah but we are not North Korea yet.
JSul3 · 70-79
@SunSetStrut We've become Russia.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@JSul3 Things seem pretty normal except with immigration stuff and health care. The way some people were talking though, one would think it would be way worse.
JSul3 · 70-79
@SunSetStrut Citizens being shot by Ice thugs is "pretty normal?"

A war begun over ego that has killed US service members and thrown the cost of goods skyward due to the rising cost of fuel is "pretty normal?"

The free press being blacked out because the president can't take a word of criticism is "pretty normal?'

Eligible voters being removed from rolls is "pretty normal?"

The POTUS bending over backwards to dictators like Xi, and Putin is "pretty normal?"

I could go on....but I think we have a different take on what "pretty normal" is.
