It’s ok if i was making for myself. But if I have guests, I’d have to calculate the “cups” equivalent to the cups that’d be using to serve coffee + my mug. That should give me the correct “cups” line for water and number of spoonfuls of the coffee.
Too much “mathing” at 7am.

Easy. One pot is 12 cups. No place serves just only one cup.
Heck try to get a combo of anything with a small 8 oz cup. They usually insist on a medium 12-16 oz with combos.
My coffee mug is 2 cups 16 oz. And it's not a large 20+ oz.
Three of my cups would easily exceed 5 cups
