Bystander video shows federal agents struggling with Alex Pretti before he is shot to death Saturday, Jan 24, 2026, in Minneapolis.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers involved in the deadly shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis on Saturday were wearing body cameras, a U.S. Department of Homeland Security official told ABC News.

“There is body camera footage from multiple angles which investigators are currently reviewing,” the official said.

CBP officers tend to wear body cameras, a contrast from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which varies from agent to agent. ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis almost three weeks ago, recorded the shooting on his phone.

During a news conference with other members of Congress reacting to Pretti’s death, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., said she voted against a DHS funding bill that would have provided more body cameras for ICE.

“Well, they have them already in the thousands, and they refuse to wear them,” McCollum said. “So Secretary Noem, have your officers suit up and put on their body cameras, just like our law enforcement does.

DHS funding bill that would have provided more body cameras for ICE.
That "funding for bodycams" thing is a total red herring. ICE is the best funded "police force" in the history of the world. tRump's 1BBB gave ICE $30 billion for personnel and another $45 billion for detention facilities over 5 years. With 22,000 employees and $6 billion per year, that's $272,727 per employee per year.

ICE is already paying for $500 sidearms and $1000 ballistic vests, there's still plenty of money for bodycams that cost in the $200 range.

As quoted above, ICE has thousands of bodycams, they just don't wear them!!
That's the issue, or maybe it's whether they wore masks.
