@yestestvennaya I don't hate Russia. I am disappointed that they're following in the patterns of other defeated empires. There are better things to do than wasting a million lives in pursuit of eastern Ukraine. Besides, civilizations get softer as they get safer. It's one of the costs of doing business. So the fact that Europe is crazy is part polarization (feminism wound up on the left, so feminism good or something) and part the softening effect of civilization. Polarization is particularly hard to fight because people's identities are wrapped up in it. The softening effect of civilization, same thing. It demands extra efforts from the population when everything about civilization is about reducing effort and workload. I wouldn't take a regression to imperialism and wars of aggression, and Russia is into both. We'll see what Trump does in the future, though. It's not like Iraq wasn't a war of aggression.
