Good question. And I would say extraordinarily over-medicated. It starts with kids and it continues through adulthood. It's a perfectly American trait. We use band aids on issues instead of going to the root cause. And I think it's almost become a badge of honor to some young people. Especially around mental health stuff.
I've long thought that we need to get to a mind over body place. But it's so ingrained, and pills are so readily prescribed, that once they're in there then it's about taking another pill to counteract the side effects.
Some people really need them. But I don't think most do. I've taken one pain pill after some dental work and that was it for me. I'll suck up the pain and let my body heal itself. Because it will. Changing our environment, food, exercise habits and all the rest are far more beneficial than a pill in my opinion.
