Trump Unveils ‘TrumpRx’ Drug-Buying Site
Details are kind of murky, but it seems as if the US will be creating a direct-to-consumer web site, to offer Pfizer drugs at a discounted rate. What that rate is, remains a mystery. Pfizer gets to import tariff-free drugs for a period of 3 years.
Pfizer says it's going to offer "some" of its products at a most-favorite nation basis to Medicare.
Note: Pharmaceutical companies are already required to offer to Medicaid the lowest prices offered to any other U.S. payer.
Drug-pricing expert Rena Conti said Xeljanz and other drugs mentioned by the White House as part of the new platform already have generous patient-assistance programs from Pfizer and face stiff pricing competition. “The reality is that this is an announcement for a small set of drugs for which a lot of patients are already paying pretty low prices at the pharmacy counter,” said Conti, an associate professor at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.
MAGA will now claim he solved Rx overpricing issues.
