A few things don't add up to me.
First off there are literally millions of people who could not stand Kirk. That is not even remotely unique.
Mass produced clothing and being a young white dude are also not unique in the US.
The ease with which the suspect escaped and multiple diversions to facilitate an escape.
We also have reports that a private jet took off and illegally disabled it's transponder an hour after the shooting.
This doesn't feel amateur hour.
This is also the 3rd person they arrested and claimed was the shooter.
To me it is just as likely that someone like this could be convinced to take one for the team and convince them they will be a hero.

@AllycatAD I mean we know now his family are serious gun nuts but even then a cold bore shot with cross winds is not easy.
Can't say I have looked into it myself but some people are claiming Kirk was wearing a vest under the T shirt and if you supposedly watch the video in slow motion you can see it hit the vest and deflect up into his neck. Could be true, might not. A center mass aim point does make sense though. Don't know enough about ballistic armour to know what the possibilities are there either.
