They've also been the party of big govt lately with the govt having a hand in everything. It's pretty wild but I also remember when conservatives were siding with Al Qaeda on the internet. Many of whom say they didn't like them cos Muslim but agreed with their traditional values and also had an ironic heavy anti west sentiment as conservatives have increasingly been having melt downs over diversity in everything from books to cartoons.
@SatanBurger Being a "conservative" is nothing to be grateful for. Do a web search on 'the most conservative nations in the world." Don't be surprised what you find.
Conservative, for me, has become to mean very closed minded, a refusal to accept progress that would benefit all...and domination over others.
Frankly all the "analysis" in the article you've posted feels like watching an interpretive dance performance - Lots of expression, but at the end you still wonder what you've been looking at.
Because it's totally missed one important point :
The politics we live with now disgust me, and I'll never fall in line with the partisan crap either side is dealing out in this rigged two-party game. I believe voters should choose the politicians who serve them, instead of the other way around.

The actual Republican party is dead. It is now 100% the Party of Trump, where no voice of dissent is allowed and those who do not bow down and pledge total loyalty to Dear Felon Leader are quickly dispatched.
