Both autocrats (Trump and Putin) wanted to look strong and 'in charge'. They have both been disabused of their vain belief that they can control other countries. NATO is bigger now than it was before the invasion of Ukraine and the Russian economy is under stress. Europe (including the UK) is mostly going in the same direction together on this subject, as described here. Trump is frustrated that he has had no positive effect on the world disputes he sought to end within a day. He lies about it and blames everybody else. He will now give away that which is not his to give to try to save himself.

@Prison1203 There's no 'need' to be on here at all, but it's a great forum for finding out what people from all over the world think. The internet can be wonderful for exposing us to other opinions and perhaps even realising that we don't all think the same.
