@TangledUpInBlue This was in 2001. They still find Buddhism horribly idolatrous, but they need tourists to visit Afghanistan. They no longer have foreign aid or money from opium trade. Taliban put their money where their mouth is and banned a significant source of their income for moral, religious, and political reasons, yet receive no recognition for it. We need to think outside the box and not keep living in 2001. Taliban are serious.
