“Crisis” in Spain and Portugal

What is going in Spain and Portugal? Was this an experiment to see how westerners cope without electricity for a few hours? Are they getting them prepared for worse? Why can people deal with it in South Africa but not in Spain and Portugal? Have they never heard of candles? Do they not read books? Can they not go without for more than one day?

I heard on the news this Outage has been blamed on a Weather Phenomenon, I guess the wind stopped and the clouds became grey indeed a Phenomenon for Spain and Portugal.

We are moving to renewable energy, outages will become more common we must prepare for this in the future.

@senghenydd Need some nuclear in the mix and some old fashioned oil/gas/coal for backup. It's stupid to not have a mix.

@ineedadrink They do have a mix, although it is causing Spain problems. Wind turbines need to be started by electric grid and controlled by the grid. They require maintenance and could not exist without electricity. Their connection is not only one of the turbine providing electricity to the grid.

If people want to keep their phones and social medias, they will not be able to rely on green energy. Going green will be a nightmare for the west.

@ineedadrink Without that mix, our energy supplies in-future will be unreliable, a number of my neighbours are relying on Kidney machines every two days running them in their homes without a reliable electricity that'll be a problem.

@SW-User I've put my self in a better position than most I have what can only be called some off-grid power supply and it wouldn't affect me that much, I saw this coming.
