is america's social security system in danger

someone just said this on one of my posts, that they think the social security system in america will be taken away?

i am not in america but still wondered, will there not be some safety net for the people there?

i am fully in support of looking after people if they need it and supporting the vulnerable, so i do not think social security should be taken away.

Yes, it is. A lot of administrations, starting back with Kennedy, have "borrowed" money from SS, and have neglected to pay it back. Add to that providing benefits to persons that never paid in, or other boondoggles, all reasons why the fund will dry up eventually until something is done.
