Overwhelmed by the News?

I can’t seem to watch the news anymore without going into a spiral. My students ask me all these questions and I’m finding it more and more difficult to answer their questions in an unbiased manor.

How do you deal with being completely overwhelmed by the news?

Irate parent: How dare you tell my child it's a good morning? Who made you judge of what's good and bad? You must be a communist/Trumpest/nazi* saying it's a good morning after what we're going through?

*Delete as appropriate.

An exaggeration perhaps, but it can be a bit like that when polarization rules.
