Gotta love Sunday quarterbacks who know nothing.
A Rumble post by Fox News came to my attention. It was about the airplane crash in Korea that killed all those people. Terrible accident and I am not trying to dance on those people's graves but the reporting by Fox was so bad it made me debate whether to toss my computer or toss my lunch. According to the woman supposedly a former flight attendant the airplane could have landed in the water. It could have spent time in the air burning off fuel before landing. The spoilers and flaps should have been deployed, the runway should have been foamed. The miracle on the Hudson was a miracle. It is not the way Scully would have preferred to land. Give him a runway or the river he would take the runway every time. The flaps and spoilers were not deployed. Yes the aircraft was coming in without its engines and apparently the hydraulics (all 3 sets) didn't work either. Oh and did I mention the engines were not working? the pilots could not just circle the airport burning fuel because they weren't burning any fuel! The engines failed. The reason you foam a runway is to reduce the damage caused by airplane grinding on tarmac. However foaming the runway extends the length the airplane slides. The reason for the deaths was some idiot put a barricade at the end of the runway and the airplane hit it at a high rate of speed. No barrier and those passengers would likely still be alive. But the bigger question is - is that the best Fox News can put out as informed commentary? I don't know about anyone else but I have heard other pilots who flew that type of aircraft on YouTube a few hours after the accident occurred. They were much more informed that the bimbo on Fox News who as stewardess was once on an airplane that lost and engine and landed safely.
