Yes, you were a colony and launched a successful revolution to overthrow imperialist tyranny. Now, you're just empire building yourselves. You're becoming the thing you revolted against.
Yay, America.... 😒

AND, for decades, US immigration law and policy was designed to spit in the eye of Fidel Castro by treating everyone who set foot on Florida as an asylum seeker. This helped earn votes from a swing demographic in a swing state.
AND, by law, people at the border can STILL request asylum. And it's a long involved process and they get entry awaiting their decision in 12 or 24 months.
That's the law. That's the law that needs fixing.
AND, the Senate, in early 2024, produced a bipartisan bill to greatly streamline the asylum process. You remember what happened to that bill, right? Trump squashed it. The asylum issue has a fix and Trump doesn't want it implemented. SAD!
just like according to US law your friendly peaceful immigrants are illegal aliens.

In theory sure. In practice it has been used under the Biden regime to allow fake claims, have the claimants vanish and never show up for hearings. For that violation I personally would deport them. @ElwoodBlues

@jackjjackson Still projecting. You really are a very sad individual.

Nope. Not the Philippines. And I wouldn't call attempts to acquire Puerto Rico a success either. Likewise, attempts to acquire Cuba failed miserably.

Good luck with that. @NativePortlander1970

And if you'd been mature enough to acknowledge that earlier, you could have saved yourself a lot of useless subject-changing effort.
You’ve made your point.

And to this day, Mexico is proud of how they stood up to "The Behemoth to the North" and got the US to actually pay for the land, rather than just seizing it .

do you mean when we took some others country land from them.. again and again.. it was stealing land like we did with the indians.. just still doing it today is all.

As a native of Arizona, I did know that. 🙂
On this thread, a great book to read is “ The Imperial Cruise” by James Bradley. An eye opener and as for knowing the history of one’s country not always taught in school this book is an education.
If you get and read it you will draw your own conclusions.

I just read a synopsis. You’re right. The story isn’t taught however the 1905 Taft trip is consistent with TRism. I agree withe synopsis that while the author claims that trip led to Pearl Harbor it’s more likely intervening events did. I may read it anyway. Thanks! @soar2newhighs
