Is this Trudeau’s last ditch attempt to get us to like him?

Pretty blatant attempt to pander to the masses. Working in the grocery industry as I do, I think it might be a pain in the ass to change all our systems to exclude HST or specific articles. Also, HST is a tax that is charged on all levels but is an end consumer tax. This means the store pays HST on the goods it buys from their suppliers, but then charge it to the customer. I can see that if the business pays for the goods before the change but later cannot recover the tax from the customer, the business will have to eat an enormous cost. Not that anyone is sympathetic to the grocery industry 😂
